Music video analysis 1 - hey cruel world

A video starts with a name of the artist and the name of the song, which is quite unconventional for rock and music videos in general. Than we can see a production name? - AMP ROCK TV.
Video is presented in monochrome colour scheme, with a lot of texture in some shots which creates a gothic atmosphere - even a close up of a lips singing was given some sort of a gothic look.
Some of the shots are out of focus and are distorted, editing has made the movements blurry, like if you take a picture with a slow shutter speed. generally a VERY fast pace editing is used, which creates the effect of a crazy concert, a lot of flashing shots, they are changed so quickly that it was even very hard to take screenshots.
As i understand the lyrics of the song - it is about cruel world that has nothing much to offer and people should only rely on themselves. A lot of the shots are linking to the theme.
The lightning and the shadows have a very important role in this video - hard "concert" type of light, sharp shadows are also contributing to the atmosphere.
There are few very interesting shots from a low angle, when he is screaming and generally MM is placed above people, he is on stage and all the people are below, which leads to the idea of him sharing ideas with people and teaching them stuff. I can link it to his other music video - Antichrist Superstar (and the way he performs it on the concerts), where he is placed very hight on stage, with this sort of desk, like people have on elections, but with a danger sight on it. We can also see some shots of him addressing the audience, from behind, so we get the idea that he has something to tell.

Snow and confetti falling from the ceiling are one of the typical elements of Marilyn Manson`s concerts. We can see a shot of it in this video as well, mostly they are used in the music video and song "Comma White". Some other conventional elements of his concerts are present - a lot of fog, people jumping and dancing. The images are mainly grainy.I find most of the shots very artistic, they could even be used as a photographs, which you normally don`t see in the music videos, at least the ones that are only telling a story. Some interesting shots with the usage of foreground, e.g. him behind a cage (not sure what that is in reality), behind a glass that is distorting image. Some of them representing loneliness, alienation and isolation - e.g. shots of MM in a gas mask, in a tunnel and behind things.

Mise-en-scene

Quite typical for MM - black clothes, chopped black nail polish, makeup, leather jackets with studs, ray ban glasses. They are part of the normal image of him and are present in his life, videos, concerts.
I have noticed that in the venue where concert is happening has changed in the video - in the beginning it was quite a small concert hall, which changed later to a larger scale concert - a street full of people.
 In the end of the video he closes the door, which can represent so many things. maybe just the end of music video/ no hope/ no future/ but I think that it is rather a pessimistic ending to a video.
