The video shows Pink trying to influence a young girl, playing roles of devil and angel. They show her a series of images demonstrating the stupidity of current trends in female celebrity, Pink plays various roles, including a dancer in a 50 Cent video, a girl attempting to attract the attention of an instructor at the gym, a girl who uses her emergency inflatable breasts at a bowling alley, a girl at a tanning salon, a bulimic girl who considers calories "so not sexy", a horrible looking old woman in a pink tracksuit who looks like if she is trying far too hard to look young, a girl getting plastic surgery, a girl filming a sex tape, a girl washing her car and rubbing a facecloth and soap all over herself, and a girl who goes into a pet shop, buys an "itsy bitsy doggy" with the advertisement that it "stays younger longer", and drives her car so carelessly while putting on makeup that she runs over two people.
Most of the times there is a direct visual reference to the lyrics - Pink sings "i`m so glad that I`ll never fit in, this will never be me.", showing her coming out of the tanning shop looking completely ridiculous.
She also plays roles of opposite kind of women - a woman president, and a girl winning a football match.
She tries to show a girl how ridiculous most of the new trends are. " The disease is growing, its epidemic, I`m scared that there`s a cure". Or, for example, when she sings "push up my bra like that" she activates her inflatable bra.
From the technical perspective most of the shots are quite simple, some of them are framed very nicely.
A high angle shot was used to show a girl getting a plastic surgery to show the doctors point of view on her and show in one shot the amount of corrections she wants to do with her body. Some close ups of Pink, for example of her in a tanning salon showing with her facial expressions that she is not pleased about being there.
A lot of tracking in camera movements were used, which i can not justify, I think it was just quite a common thing for the music videos of that time. Some special effects were used as well - for example before showing a girl " dancing in a video next to 50 cent" we can see a TV black and white noise for a second.
The colours in the clips showing " stupid girls" differ a lot from the " ambitious" ones. The stupid girls shots are very bright, when the smart girls shots have less brightness and contrast.
