Hi Stacie, and welcome.
Nope FCPX does not have a true motion blur filter or setting. Some people apply the directional blur filter to achieve a motion blur-like effect but that's not the same as true motion blur. - Either you do it in Motion 5 where you will find a true motion blur processor in the Project Properties: The higher the samples you set, the higher the quality of the motion blur and the longer it will take to render. The highter the shutter angle, the more blur you will get. Start with a 90 degree angle and 16 samples and adjust from there. Motion blur can be turned off for working with the clip, and turned on before exporting: - Or you get a dedicated motion blur plugin for FCPX. The only individual plugin that gives a true professional motion blur effect in FCPX is RSMB from ReVision: www.revisionfx.com/products/rsmb/ The latest version is compatible with FCPX and it comes with a solid price-tag of 85 dollars (you don't need the Pro verso which is more expensive but only adds vector motion bur for 3D). So if you only need this for one particular project it's cheaper to get Motion 5 (if you don't have it yet) and do it in there. - Ronny |

Nice info Ronny!
I might add though, the effect I see in the video is reminiscent of when I try to do some slow mo without enough frames and use optical flow. You get that blurry effect that I see. |
